Raven Shelter - Auke Village Recreation Area

The Auke Recreation Picnic Area is on a beach on the northern shoreline of Auke Bay, and was once a village site for the Auk Tlingit Natives. Often in the summer, porpoises can be seen from the beach as they break the surface of the water. Conveniently located adjacent to the Auk Village Campground, the area has 11 picnic sites, 5 of the sites have shelters, Raven Shelter is available for reservation. There are 6 vault toilets and several potable drinking water faucets dispersed throughout the area. The shelters and picnic sites are widely spaced from each other. A continuous pathway stretches from one end of the area to the other connecting the picnic areas. The area is a 14 mile drive from downtown Juneau north along Glacier Highway. The area is only one and a half miles north of the Alaska Marine Highway ferry terminal.
