| Comments: | Coconino Sample Plot S5; Taken from SW corner strip I, Plot S5III(F). Area not fenced. Shows particularly how the oak sprouts shown in original photo have finally died as the result of being continuously browsed by sheep. By the two surviving sprouts, shown at right of picuture, is a 3' seedling. This seedling is growing between two rocks. A few 6" seedlings (not visible in picture) are growing near remnants of former top slash, shown in right rear. This area is very heavily grazed and only grass at present is Festuca which is closely cropped. See La-151 (1959). See also DJN-136 |
