Comments: Taken from SE corner strip 3, Plot S5III(F). Area not fenced. Since original photograph was taken a tree (N0. 559) has fallen across strip. Two seedlings in foreground (by calipers) are badly browsed. There are several 1' seedlings growing under top of fallen tree where man is standing. Some of these are also injured. About 10 seedlings are behind and near stem of top. These are normal and growth is apparently being stimulated through accumulation of litter.
