Comments: Coconino Sample Plot S3B; A clay flat on which reproduction has made almost imperceptible progress during the past 10 years, despite adequate seed trees and complete protection. The causes are a stone-free clay soil and a dense growth of bunchgrass (Festuca arizonica). This accocation of oil and grass is invariable inimical to reproduction of western yellow pine.
