| Comments: | Western yellow pine second year seedlings injured to simulate grazing damage. 7/30/29. Rows from right to left as follows: (1) control (tall); (2) 1/2 of current year's shoot cut; (3) top cut leaving only a rosette of primary leaves at base of crown; (4) entire crown cut off, leaving only an occasional primary leaf or cotyledon. On 9/15 the series was repeated, tall row in middle representing control, and the injured ones to the left in same order as above. Present photograph shows same results in both July and September injury. Row 2 all survived but are less then half as tall as #1; in row 3 about half died and survivors are small; in row 4, all died.
