Comments: Cooperrider-Cassidy study. Yellow pine reproduction showing development from needle sheath buds. Shows 1928-1929 growth taken from specimen 2' in height. History: The 1928 leader grazed to 3 1/2" stub--point of injury just below fig. 1. Two needle sheath buds formed in upper leaf bundles on 1928 leader stub; formed the two 1929 stems which are (left) 5 1/4" and (right) 3 1/2" in length. Stem to right clipped 1929. One needle in view of each bundle in which buds formed may be seen at base of 1929 shoots, also, the papery needle sheath from which sprang shoot to right.
