Comments: "Rat tails" from severe wood injury by cattle to tree near plot 137. Injury occurred shortly after 1935 growth began and when wood was just beginning to form in core of new shoots. When injured the succulent exteriors of shoots pulled away, leaving behind small woody cores or "rat tails."
