Comments: Cooperrider-Cassidy study. Govt. Knolls progressive plot B-4. Tree No.25. Closeup of bole 2 in.in diam. showing one old persistent needle of old needle-bundle bud. Shoots from this bud developed into main stem of tree which in time straightened up completly and illustrates complete recovery from old injury. Top of tree is now about 4ft. above the place of the picture. Due to repeated injury it is impossible to tell exactly in what year bud started either 1931 or 1930, probably 1930 - from 2in. grazed stub. Note undeveloped remnants of what are probably old wood buds on bole of tree near persistent needle. Duplicates photo 269354. See also photo 283082.
