| Comments: | Under overgrazing (outside the plot) blue grama and pingue replace bunchgrasses at lower edges of the ponderosa pine belt. Under protection (inside the plot) successional trends reverse and bunchgrasses, mutton grass (Poa fendleriana), and suirreltail (Sitanion hystrix), replace the blue grama. Whether blue grama is superior to the bunchgrass on such sites is debatable. |
