| Comments: | Coconino Sample Plot S3B; Experiment within rodent exclosure, begun in 1928. Plots from backward are; 1-natural, 2-clipped to 6" 2-3 times annually 1929-1936 (no clipping in 37); 3-clipped same as 2 but to 2"; 4-denuded; Stake marks path between 2 and 3. All were shown to pine in 1929 and good germination resulted. The present survival is; plot 1- 3 seedlings(small); plot 2-5 seedlings; plot 3-10 seedlings, plot 4-so dense that hinning have been necessary. On plot 2, clipped to 6", the Ariz fescue is giving way to mntn-muhlenbergia and beardless bunchgrass; on plot3-fescue has almost disappeared but there are good stands of the other species.
