Comments: 1928, 1913, and 1959. Taken from S. W. corner, strip I, Plot S5III(C). Area fenced in 1919. Site here is very rocky (lava). Note the seedlings at right of picture. These have recovered after having been severely browsed by sheep and are barely discernible in the original photo. The seedling where man stands is under oak canopy where duff of leaves has accumlated. This seedling is 4'tall. See La-141 (1959).
