Comments: 1928, 1913, and 1959. Taken from SW corner, strip I, Plot S5III(E). Area fenced in 1919. Shows failure of seedlings to become established under blackjack canopy. There are a few stunted seedlings present but these will, however, probably die as did the numerous 1919 seedlings that had started here. Note how well the top slash shown in rear of original photo has decayed. The grass shown in picture is chiefly Sitanion. See La-148 (1959).
