Mycorrhizae

[photo] Root with mycorrhizaeA mycorrhiza is the symbiotic association of tree roots with the mycelium of a fungus. One of the benefits of mycorrhizae is that the fungi serve as extensions of the root system and perform a major role in a seedling's uptake of nutrients and water. Seedling roots can be inoculated with mycorrhizae in the nursery or inoculated as the tree roots are dipped before planting.
