Bringing together all branches and programs of the USDA Forest Service, the public, and partners to increase conservation for waterfowl

Taking Wing, led by USDA Forest Service, is a partnership program with over 14 years of experiences and acomplishments in building, maintaining, and enhancing partnerhips dedicated to the needs of waterfowl and wetland-depenedent wildlife. In response to national direction, Taking Wing is expanding.

The Forest Service is making a significant investment to grow Taking Wing into a world class, national and international program capable of bringing together broad based public and private partnerships dedicated to delivering significant resources to the resolution of important water and wetland related problems. The expanded program will build from the ground up as agency employees and partners identify, prioritize, and implement new and more challenging opportunities.

The North American Waterfowl Managment Plan, U.S. Shorebird Conservation Plan, and the North American Waterbird Conservation Plan are fundamental references to guide Taking Wing priorities and strategies. Taking Wing continues to support U.S. Joint Ventures in their efforts to deliver integrated bird conservation.

Initial Assessments of Waterfowl Breeding Habitat Conditions Available
Up to date waterfowl hunting information can be found at the site.
