The Tangle Lakes Archaeological District contains more than 600 sites, the oldest of which date to about 12,000 years ago. The sites provide evidence of ancient hunters using an ice-dominated landscape. Stone tools and an occasional hearth were found at most of the early sites in the Tangle Lakes District.

 

Site connection to the National Historic Preservation Act

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Section 106 work has occurred to mitigate effects of off highway vehicles.
