Passes
Under the Recreational Enhancement Act authority, recreation permits are issued as a means to ensure that extra measures are taken for natural and cultural resource protection, and the health and safety of visitors. They can also be used to allocate capacity and/or disperse recreation use. Examples of permit activities include:
- Specialized trails for motorized vehicle use.
- Wildlife viewing areas
- Group activities
- Recreational events
Interagency Recreation Passes
These interagency recreation passes provide access to Federal recreational lands that have an entrance or amenity fee, and up to 100% of the Pass program's proceeds are used to improve and enhance visitor recreation services. They are available to purchase or obtain at National Forest offices, and most are available at the USGS Store (processing fees may apply for some passes.)
