Passes & Permits

Common activities that may require a permit include:

  • Wood cutting for firewood, posts, poles, or rails 
  • Mushroom picking
  • Rock collecting 
  • Christmas tree cutting
  • Large group gatherings or events
  • Filming or videography
  • Outfitter guides

Most national forest system lands are open, free of charge for your use and enjoyment. Entrance and user fees may be charged in some areas.

Areas on the Dixie National Forest that require entrance fees are:

  • Pine Valley Recreation Area, Pine Valley Ranger District
    • All permits, passes and maps for the Pine Valley Ranger District are available at:
      Public Lands Information Center:  345 E Riverside Dr.  St. George, UT.
