When we think of forest fires, we may consider them destructive. However, at the right place and time, wildland fire can benefit habitat and reduce wildfire risk. At the wrong place and time, wildland fire can cause severe damage, threatening homes, communities, public safety, and natural and cultural resources.
The Dixie National Forest is committed to wildfire risk reduction, wildfire safety, public safety, and promoting sustainable forests. The forest works with Tribes, federal and state agencies, and partners, to implement prescribed fire projects and ensure that wildfires are responded to promptly.
