Motorized Travel Management -

On November 9, 2005, the Forest Service published a
final travel management regulation, governing use of
OHVs and other motor vehicles on National Forest
System lands. The final rule requires individual
national forests to designate those roads, trails, and
areas open to motor vehicle use.

Over Snow Motor Vehicle Use -

Four over snow motor vehicle maps are available
that display routes and areas open for winter
motorized recreation on the forest. The maps are
available free of charge at all Flathead National Forest offices
or download them at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/flathead/maps.

Snowmobilers are reminded that the Great Bear, Bob
Marshall and Mission Mountains Wilderness areas
and the Jewel Basin Hiking area are non-motorized
areas. Snowmobile travel in these areas is not
permitted.
