New One Signature Line Policy for Interagency Annual Passes Beginning January 2024

To ensure consistency and fairness among all Interagency Passes, and to reduce fraudulent misuse, the second signature line will be removed from the Interagency Annual passes effective January 1, 2024. All Interagency Annual Passes sold on or after this date will have one signature line for a single passholder.

  • This change is necessary to ensure consistency and fairness among all Interagency Passes and to prevent fraud and reduce revenue loss.
  • Removing the second signature brings the Interagency Annual Pass in line with other Interagency Passes: one signature, one motorcycle.
  • The pass will still be valid for standard amenity day use fees for the pass owner and accompanying passengers in a private vehicle. For areas that charge a per person fee, the pass admits the pass holder and three additional adults (16 and older).
  • The change aligns with Digital Site Passes sold on Recreation.gov, which are issued to a single pass holder.
  • This change will also reduce after-market sales of annual passes with a blank signature line and reduce pass theft.
  • Revenue from Interagency Passes provides funding to improve and enhance visitor services. 80-100% of money from passes and standard amenity fees stay in the forest where purchased.
  • This change will affect purchasers of Interagency Annual Passes at all pass sales outlets. For Interagency Passes, these outlets include agency locations, USGS, and third-party vendors.

Interagency Recreation Passes

These interagency recreation passes provide access to Federal recreational lands that have an entrance or amenity fee, and up to 100% of the Pass program's proceeds are used to improve and enhance visitor recreation services. They are available to purchase or obtain at National Forest offices, and most are available at the USGS Store (processing fees may apply for some passes.)
