Employment
Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie is the only National Tallgrass Prairie in the USDA Forest Service system. Every day, Volunteers, Partners and Staff Members work toward the four basic focuses of the Illinois Land Conservation Act, which established Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie in 1996: (1) Recreation; (2) Restoration; (3) Education and Interpretation; and (4) Agriculture. You could be part of a whole community effort to restore natural habitat for grassland birds, monarchs and a wide array of other native pollinators that require it.
A career with the USDA Forest Service provides an opportunity to work for nature – and in nature – and leave a lasting impact.
Direct Hire Intended: Former or current Peace Corps volunteers or staff members; U.S. Military Veterans; individuals who are eligible to apply through the Schedule A special hiring authority; current federal employees; and more.
