 Interpretation Guide

Balsam poplar is a far north species (2.3% of area), sparse, but with high IV when present. Its medium reliable model suggests substantial decreases in habitat (area and importance) may occur under either scenario of climate change. It is moderately abundant and adaptable however, yielding an overall capability rating of poor. The effect of SHIFT is minor.
