Due to the Big Creek Fire that started on the Stevensville Ranger District May 7, 2025, the Big Creek Trailhead is currently closed to the public. Please check out the Big Creek Trailhead Closure Order and map under the Alerts and Fire Danger Status drop down menu.

Fire Information
The public information staff uses several tools to communicate with communities such as Discover the Bitterroot Facebook page, the Bitterroot National Forest website, press releases, InciWeb, public meetings, and mobile information trailers to name a few. Getting accurate, timely fire information to the public is a high priority to keep our community up to date. Our community plays an active part in shared, two-way conversations in understanding fire management operations that are geared toward keeping people safe and preserving our lands.
