Bailey Lake Trail # 293
Bailey Lake Trail #293 begins at a roadside pullout located 19 miles up Lost Horse Road (Forest Service Road #429), just past the Lost Horse Guard Station. The trail is 1 mile long and begins at an elevation of approximately 6,000' elevation. The trail passes through beautiful subalpine forest as it climbs to 6,650' elevation into an alpine basin with Bailey Lake as the focal point and surrounded by rocky outcrops and ridgelines.

Weed Seed Free feed is required on all national forest land.
Campfires allowed, dependent upon seasonal fire restrictions.
Practice good trail etiquette by staying on designated paths, yielding to uphill users, and giving space to others.
Pets must be under control. Leashes are recommended to avoid user and wildlife conflicts. Properly dispose of animal waste bags.
Bailey Lake Trail #293 is accessible via wheeled motorized vehicles between June 16th and November 30.
FS Rd #429 is closed to wheeled motorized travel at the Tenmile Creek gate from 12/1 - 6/16 annually
Prohibited uses include:
- Motorized equipment and mechanized travel including e-bikes
- No cutting switchbacks

Parking area is adjacent to Lost Horse Road (FS Rd #429) approximately 0.1-mile past Lost Horse Guard Station. There is adequate parking for passenger vehicles. Stock trailers not recommended at this site.
Directions
From Darby, Montana, head north on US-93 for 7 miles. Turn left (west) onto Lost Horse Road (National Forest Road #429) and continue for 18 miles. At the road junction with National Forest Road #5605, stay left on Lost Horse Road.
Continue approximately 0.1 miles past the Lost Horse Guard Station. Parking area will be on the East side of the road, and the Trailhead is on the West side of the road.
