Roaring Lion Trail # 124
The Roaring Lion Trail # 124 gains 1,750' elevation as it follows its namesake creek for 7.7 miles through one of the rugged glacially carved valleys that are common in the Bitterroot Mountains. The trail enters the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness at approximately 1.4 miles. It crosses Roaring Lion Creek 3 times along the length of the trail and ends in the head of the canyon. The trailhead is located at the end of Roaring Lion Road (FS Road # 701).

Selway Bitterroot Wilderness party size is limited to a maximum 20 people and 20 head of pack and saddle stock

The trailhead has adequate parking for passenger vehicles. The site can accommodate 1-2 small stock trailers.
Directions
From Hamilton travel 4 miles south on Highway 93. Turn west (right) on to Roaring Lion Rd and follow approximately 3.5 miles to the end and the trailhead.
