The Spotted Bear Ranger Station is located 55 miles south of Hungry Horse, MT. The roads granting access to the station are open May 15 - November 30 each year (weather dependent). The Spotted Bear Ranger District employees share the Hungry Horse Ranger Station from December 1 - May 14 each year.

The Spotted Bear Ranger District contains the Spotted Bear River, Great Bear and Bob Marshall Wildernesses, and the South Fork of the Flathead River. It is a popular destination for water recreation, fishing and hunting. Northern access to the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex is gained near the Spotted Bear Ranger Station.
