Mammoth Springs Campground

Mammoth Springs Campground features 8 camp units and vault toilets. Please observe the Pack it In Pack it Out refuse policy. Attractions include Dismal Lake (1 mile, on private timber ground).  This campground was recently improved through a grant through an Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation.

Sites are available on a first come, first served basis.

Open 24 hours/day

Overnight Use:
Peak Season (Water ON): Single Site: $15 per night (2 vehicles included per site)
Additional Vehicle: $5 per night (3 vehicle limit per site)
Non-Peak (Water OFF): $12 per night

$15/night when water pump handles are on or $12/night without water, an additional $5 third vehicle fee applies.

Directions

High clearance vehicles, not recommended for low clearance vehicles

Access 1: From Avery, Idaho drive 22 miles east of Avery on St. Joe River Road (Forest Highway 50), turn south on Bluff Creek Road (#509), go 14 miles and turn south 2-1/2 miles on Avery Timber Creek Road (#201). Proceed 2.4 miles to the campground entrance.

Access 2: From St. Regis, Montana take the Little Joe Road (#282) to the Idaho border where it becomes Gold Creek Road (#388). This road will end at the St. Joe River Road (Forest Highway 50) where you turn right and continue as in Access 1.
