#410 Caribou Creek Trailhead

Trail Length: 5.01

The trail passses through old stands of hemlock and cedar, the trail follows Willard Creek and Caribou Creek for about 2.5 miles. It is difficult to follow the trail on this lower stretch, and you may have to bushwhack. Once past Caribou Creek, the trail begins to traverse the mountain. It is overgrown in places and blowdowns are numerous. South of the summit the trail crosses a steep rock face and must be hiked with caution. At the top of Smith Mountain, you will find the remnants of an old fire tower. Trail connects to Smith Mountain Trail #155.

Trail is maintained for hikers. Accept bicycle. Discourage pack & saddle.

Closed yearlong to all wheeled motorized vehicles.
