French Creek Campground

This small, developed campground is located in a quiet area with picnic tables, fire rings, and a vault toilet.  The campground provides access to the nearby Fairburn Agate Beds, which is a popular spot for rockhounding.

General Information

Open year-round. 

Quiet time hours are from 10pm to 6am. 

Travel from the campground to the agate beds is dependent on road conditions.

No Fees are required for this site.

Pets must be on a leash inside the fenced campground area.

Directions

From Fairburn, South Dakota travel 11.4 miles east on French Creek Road.  The entrance to the campground is located on the north side of the road on Forest Service Road 7055. 

Travel Considerations

Travel can be difficult if the roads are wet.

Parking

Gravel parking lot with multiple parking stops near the campground.  Large, mowed area on east side of parking lot for RVs and trailers.

Horse/Pack Animal Information

Horse/Pack animals are allowed at this site.

The mowed area to the east side of the parking lot is available for trailers and there are several hitching posts available.
