Planning

Each national forest and grassland is governed by a land and resource management plan (LRMP or "forest plan") in accordance with the National Forest Management Act. Forest plans tell the Forest Service how to manage the land entrusted to it. Forest plans set desired conditions, standards, and guidelines for management, protection, and use of the forests and grasslands. Monitoring ensures projects are done in accordance with plan direction or shows areas that might require a change in the forest plan.

The Nebraska's forest plan provides management direction for the two forests and three grasslands in its care. The current forest plan, dated 2009, is composed of the original plan written in 1984 and a series of revisions. All our projects tier to the forest plan.

Plan Updates

Administrative Changes

The Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands Land and Resource Management Plan was last revised in 2009. Since then, numerous changes to laws, rules, regulations, and guidance have occurred that affect the Plan. In addition, grammatical corrections and updates to standardize language throughout the document were needed. To address these issues, it was determined that multiple administrative changes were required. An administrative change is any modification to a Plan that does not constitute an amendment or a full revision. These changes may include corrections or clerical updates to any part of the Plan, bringing the Plan into conformance with new statutory or regulatory requirements, or revising other content as outlined in 36 CFR 219.13(c).

To view review the changes, please see the document complete with indicated changes.
