Decker Trail #834

The Decker Trail #834 is 7.9 miles long. It begins at Forest Road 430 and ends at Tie Hill Trail #835.

The trail is open for the following uses: foot and horse travel. It is a non-motorized trail. Stream fishing in Decker Creek, access road to trailhead is rough with many switchbacks, high clearance vehicles recommended.

Note: This trail passes through a burned area from a 2013 wildfire. Travel can be difficult, and trees fall across the trail routinely. Route finding and some off-trail travel may be required due to downed trees and soil erosion. Use caution traversing this section, especially in high winds. A map and good navigation skills are recommended.

Getting There

Directions

Directions from South Fork: Travel southwest from South Fork on Highway 160, approximately 11 miles, to the Big Meadows Campground turnoff (FDR#410). Follow FDR#410 until it intersects FDR#430. Follow FDR#430, approximately 10 miles and past Hunters Lake Trail. The trail takes off to the right (east) of the road and follows the drainage. Look for the Decker Trail sign at a small turnout for parking. This trail intersects into the Tie Hill Trail FDT#835.
