Services and front desk hours changing for Bayfield and Durango offices

DURANGO, Colo., May 1, 2025 —Visitor service hours are changing for the Columbine Ranger District office in Bayfield and the Forest Headquarters office in Durango, effective immediately. 

• Columbine Ranger District (Bayfield) hours of operation:
  • Friday 9am – 4:30pm
• Forest Headquarters office (Durango) hours:
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9am – 3pm. Closed Wednesdays.

Visitor information, such as maps, access locations, and recreation site status may be obtained on our forest website. Phone support will also be limited. Firewood permits are available at Forest Service offices as well as with participating vendors, as well as some recreation passes. 

Additionally, due to resource limitations, the Forest Headquarters office in Durango will no longer accept cash. Checks and credit cards will continue to be accepted. Cash purchases can be made at participating vendors and all other San Juan NF offices.
