Prescribed Fire Schedule

Fire managers can only move forward with ignitions when a “prescription” is met. Dozens of factors make up a prescription, which includes wind speeds, relative humidity, onsite and adjacent fuel moistures and how smoke is expected to disperse.

Dates

With specific prescription criteria needed, ignition days can only be determined up to 72 to 24 hours in advance (get notifications).

Even then, ignitions could be postponed the morning of planned work due to sudden changes in weather. So think of the below as a menu of options for fire managers to choose from when and if prescriptions are met.

Locations

There are several potential projects fire crews could move forward with in fall and winter 2026/2027. It is unlikely every project will move forward this season, or that all acres will be treated within each unit. New projects may be added if circumstances change.
