The Coronado National Forest Fire and Aviation Management is seeking high-performing candidates to fill PERMANENT positions within its wildland fire organization preceding the 2025 wildfire season. The Tucson Interagency Dispatch Center (TDC) serves as the primary dispatch center for federal wildland fires within the Southeastern Arizona Fire Zone, dispatching for the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Fish and Wildlife Service, and National Park Service.

Coronado Heli-tack serves as crew for Helicopter 318, a type 2 fire support helicopter contracted from early spring through late summer. Coronado Helitack works for the Forest Aviation officer and is comprised of 12 crewmembers based out of the Sierra Vista Airport in Sierra Vista, Arizona.

The Douglas Fire Program is based out of Douglas, Arizona spanning multiple sky island mountain ranges in southwestern New Mexico and southeastern Arizona. Additionally, the Douglas fire program responds and supports the Chiricahua National Monument for the National Park Service. Resources based in Douglas include 2 type-6 engines, and 1 prevention officer. The duty station is in Douglas, Arizona.

The Nogales Fire Program is based out of Nogales, Arizona, and responds to, on average, the highest fire load on the Coronado National Forest. The Nogales response area includes the Santa Rita Sky Island Mountain Range, Tumacácori National Monument, west along the international border with Mexico to the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge.
Resources include 1 type-3 engine, 1 type-6 engine, and 1 fire prevention officer.
The Duty Station is Nogales, Arizona.

The Sierra Vista Fire Program is based out of Hereford, Arizona serving the central portion of the forest between the Patagonia Mountains to the west and the Huachuca Mountains to the East. The response area includes the Coronado National Memorial of the National Park Service and a close working relationship with Fort Huachuca of the Department of Defense. Resources include 1 type-3 engine, 2 type-6 engines, and 1 prevention officer. Additionally, a fuels crew is staffed from October to March each year. The duty station is Hereford, Arizona.

The Safford Fire Program is based out of Safford, Arizona, initial-attack responsibility spans the Pinaleno (Mt. Graham), Winchester, Galiuro, and Santa- Teresa Mountain ranges. Southern Arizona fire seasons typically has a high initial attack load and the program also responds to fires within other jurisdictions including BLM, National Park Service and State Lands departments. The IA program consists of 2 type 6 engines, and 1 prevention technician. The crews also respond in support of fires nationally as needed.

Tucson Helitack serves as crew for helicopter 320, a type 3 short-haul capable aircraft that supports the southern Arizona zone during the first half of it’s contract and leaves to support forests in Montana beginning mid-July for the remainder of the fire season. Tucson Helitack also manages CH-47 a type 1 helicopter for water dropping missions managed primarily by the H-320 crew. Tucson Helitack is comprised of ten personnel who report to the Forest Aviation Officer. Tucson serves as one of the primary Forest Service training facilities for short-haul spotter training each Spring.
