Partnership Highlights

The Sentinel Landscapes Partnership is a coalition of federal agencies, state and local governments, and non-governmental organizations that works with private landowners to advance sustainable land management practices around military installations and ranges. Founded in 2013 by the United States Department of Defense, Department of Agriculture, and Department of the Interior, the partnership works to empower private landowners, strengthen military readiness, and preserve natural resources.

The Fort Huachuca Sentinel Landscape was established in 2015 and encompasses 1.6 million acres. The Fort Huachuca Sentinel Landscape Partnership (FHSL) promotes compatible land uses that enhance the operations and training of Fort Huachuca, while working to strengthen the local economies of farms and ranches; protecting open space; improving habitat and population numbers for threatened, endangered and at-risk species; and reducing the threat of catastrophic wildfire. The FHSL is comprised of a steering committee, restoration working group, open space and working lands committee, and communication committee.
