Marshall Gulch Trailhead

Sabino Canyon Park and Marshall Gulch Project - The Federal Highway Administration, Central Federal Lands Highway Division (FHWA-CFLHD), in cooperation with Pima County and Coronado National Forest, is making improvements to Sabino Canyon Park Road. The project includes the construction of a new paved parking lot consisting of 75 parking spaces, a kiosk for Arizona Trail information, a public restroom, and the improvement of Sabino Canyon Park Road to accommodate 21 new on-street parking spaces, an asphalt surface rehabilitation for approximately half a mile, and the installation of a 5’ wide pathway as part of the non-wilderness bypass of the Arizona Trail. The project will relieve high levels of congestion at the Marshall Gulch Trailhead, improving pedestrian access and safety. The project is scheduled to begin construction in the fall of 2025 and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026. Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen situations.

Less than one hour from downtown Tucson, perennial water, picnic areas, and a network of wooded trails offer recreation opportunities for all interests and abilities. The top of the mountain a fantastic destination year-round. Parking areas can fill quickly during the busy season.

Seasonal gate closure is in effect yearly from December 15th to February 28th. Driving access is restricted to this area during this timeframe. Enforcement code 36 CFR § 261.13
