Sunset Trail #90
Sunset #90 is a 1.3-mile trail intersecting the higher elevations of Sabino Creek with opportunities to see beautiful rock escarpments excavated by the creek. This trail can be enjoyed by hikers, runners, mountain bikers, and equestrian users alike. Considered moderate in difficulty, the trail traverses about 450 feet of elevation change. Sunset is commonly used as an out-and-back hike, but it does present opportunities to extend a hiking adventure with Marshall Gulch #3 and Aspen #93 for additional miles in the mixed-conifer life zone. Sunset is accessed either at the Marshall Gulch Picnic Area where a day-use fee is required, or the Catalina Highway across from Butterfly #16.
Note: The first half mile from the Catalina Highway trailhead is in a residential cabin area along dirt roads.

Getting There
Directions
Take the Catalina Highway off Tanque Verde Road in Tucson. Drive 4.2 miles to the Forest boundary and continue 26 miles through Summerhaven to the Marshall Gulch Picnic Area. All roads are paved, but chains or 4-wheel drive may be required in winter because of snow. The trailhead is at the end of the road. You’ll have to walk the last couple of hundred yards in winter when the road into the picnic area is closed. Alternatively, follow the Catalina Highway 22.5 miles to Sunset’s residential trailhead.
