Cottonwood Cove Picnic Area

The Cottonwood Cove Picnic Area is located on the scenic south shore of Roosevelt Lake.

The drive to the picnic area is highlighted by spectacular views of the Sierra Ancha Mountains, Four Peaks Wilderness, Roosevelt Lake, and the Tonto Basin.

There are 20 picnic units with tables, pedestal grills, shade ramadas, paved parking, and drinking water available.

No Passes or Fees required for this site

  • Stay limit is 1 day.
  • No trailers.
  • Pack it in pack it out.
  • Rules and regulations are posted on bulletin boards. Please read and observe.
  • Day use area; no overnight camping.
  • The shoreline is rocky and footing unstable.
  • When accessing the lake on foot, use extreme caution.

Directions

This site is 2 miles northeast of historic Roosevelt Dam. From Mesa: Take State Route (SR) 87 (Beeline Highway) north for about 60 miles to the junction of SR 87 and SR 188. Turn right and follow SR 188 for 35 miles to the site. The entire route is paved.

From the Globe area: Take SR 188 north for 26 miles to the site. The entire route is paved. (Map)
