Globe Ranger District

General Information
The Globe Ranger District is located north, south, and west of the city of Globe, and borders both the Fort Apache and San Carlos Indian Reservations. The district consists of approximately 450,000 acres (approximately 182,000 hectares) of Desert, Chaparral, and Pinyon-Juniper types of vegetation, as well as a small area of Ponderosa Pine. Common recreational activities include hiking and backpacking, horseback riding, mountain biking, OHV riding, hunting, and dispersed camping.
The Globe Ranger District features the Six Shooter Trail, a National Recreation Trail. The district is also home to several popular rock climbing, bouldering, and canyoneering routes, including the Oak Flat, Euro Dog Valley, and Homestead climbing areas.
Arnett Creek is a beautiful riparian area popular for hiking, equestrian use, and bird watching. The eastern Superstition Wilderness also offers these wonderful non-motorized opportunities. The Upper Salt River is one of the most popular activities on the Globe Ranger District, known for its unique rafting experience, only available by permit from March 1 - May 15.

Pioneer is a large site composed of dispersed campgrounds located in the Globe Ranger District of Tonto National Forest.
The Gila-Pinal Scenic Road consists of 35 miles of the US-60 traveling past Picketpost Mountain, through Superior and to Miami, Arizona.
