Biking
Bicycles and mountain bikes are allowed on open forest roads, on many forest roads that are gated to prevent motor vehicle travel, and on more than 1,300 miles of summer trails on the Boise National Forest. E-Bikes are considered a motorized. Follow the ranger district Motor Vehicle Use Map for specifics.
Many trails are open to multiple non-motorized uses; meaning the trails are shared by hikers, horse riders and mountain bikers. Mountain bikes and all bicycles must remain on authorized roads and trails; cross-country travel is not permitted. Mountain bikes are a form of mechanical transport and are not allowed in the Wilderness. Information on allowed trail uses is available on trailhead signs or by contacting the nearest Ranger District office.
