CAMPING RESTRICITONS

PROHIBITIONS:

Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50 (a), the following act is prohibited in this Order, all
within the Cedar City and Pine Valley Ranger Districts, on the Dixie National Forest
until further notice.
1. Camping in the areas described below. 36 CFR 261.58 (e).

DEFINITIONS:

1. Camping: the temporary use of National Forest System Lands for the purpose of
overnight occupancy without a permanently-fixed structure.

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50(a), the following persons are exempted from the
prohibition contained in this Order:

1. Persons with a Forest Service permit specifically exempting them from the effect
of this Order.

2. Contractors and their employees who are working on construction projects for the
Forest Service.

3. Any Federal, State, or local officer; or member of an organized rescue or fire
fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

4. Federal or State administrative personnel in the performance of an official duty.

5. Persons camping in Forest Service designated dispersed campsites with assigned
site numbers.

AREA DESCRIPTION:

Forest Service trailheads, administrative sites and/or other facilities, and areas within
one-half mile of developed campgrounds unless designated by the Dixie National Forest
as an approved campsite. (Listed and described in Attachment 1).

PURPOSE:

To reduce conflicts with other public uses and recreational activities at developed and
dispersed camp sites.

IMPLEMENTATION:

1. This order will be in effect when signed and shall remain in effect until 07/09/2030
or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.

2. The prohibitions in this order applies to the areas described in attachment 1 and
made part of this order.

3. Violation of the above prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than
$5,000.00 for an individual, or $10,000.00 for an organization, and/or
Imprisonment for not more than six (6) months. [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC
3571(b) (6), Title 18 USC 3581(b) (7)}.

5. This order supersedes any previous order(s) prohibiting the same, or similar acts
prohibited by this order in the areas covered by this order.
