Fire
Fire plays a natural role on the Fishlake National Forest ecosystems by promoting vegetative and wildlife diversity. Fire eliminates heavy fuel accumulations that can lead to catastrophic wildfires. Wildfire plays an important role in establishing vegetation characteristics, such as species composition, stand structure, and as a disturbance pattern across landscapes.
The Fishlake National Forest is a member of the Central Utah Interagency Fire Organization. Other agency members include the Richfield and Fillmore Field Office of the BLM, the Southern Paiute Agency of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Capitol Reef National Park Service, Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge and the Central Area of Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands. The goal for our partnership is to provide interagency protection of life, property, and natural and cultural resources across multiple jurisdictions through safe, professional and dynamic implementation and management of fire and aviation programs. This organization manages fire operations across agency boundaries utilizing resources from all representative agencies. Central Utah is dispatched by the Richfield Interagency Fire Center
