Ely Ranger District
The Ely Ranger District is located in Lincoln, Nye and White Pine counties in eastern Nevada and the office is in Ely. At around a million acres, the District has some of the most rugged backcountry on the Forest. Its nine designated wilderness areas offers all kinds of solitude-filled backcountry opportunities and adventures.
It's made up of rugged, mountainous terrain, with elevations ranging from 6,500 feet to 12,072 feet at Mount Moriah; some of the highest points in Nevada are found here. The higher elevations are covered with sub-alpine vegetation including bristlecone and limber pine trees; dry pinyon-juniper forestland dominates most of the lower elevations.
