Forest Management
The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest manages its 6.3 million acres for multiple uses to meet the diverse needs of people, ensure the health of natural resources, provide recreational opportunities, manage wildfire, guard against invasive threats, and work with state, private and tribal forest landowners, stakeholders, and communities.
Wild Horses and Burros

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest manages 17 Wild Horse & Burro Territories on 1.1 million acres, representing 50 percent of the Forest Service’s territories.
Timber Sales

The Forest Service works with communities, private sector entities, and other agencies to provide opportunities for employment and economic growth through timber sales.
Fire Management

Wildland fire personnel are part of a much larger group of agency cooperators that work together to accomplish fire suppression and management both on National Forest System lands and lands managed by our partners.
