Thornburg Canyon Trailhead
The Thornburg Canyon trailhead, located near Markleeville, California, is a popular starting point for hikers and equestrians access the Mokelumne Wilderness along the Thornburg Canyon Trail (7 miles connecting to Blue Lakes Road).
General Information
Generally open May to October as weather and conditions allow.
- A wilderness permit is required for overnight visits within the Mokelumne Wilderness. Wilderness permits are free and are self-issued at trailheads.
- A free California Camp Fire Permit issued by CalFire is required for campfire, barbecue, and portable stove use.

From Markleeville, CA, travel west on Hot Springs Road to the intersection with Pleasant Valley/Sawmill Road. Continue on Sawmill Road along Spratt Creek until the road ends at the trailhead.
