Cabin Creek Campground

Cabin Creek Campground, located the West Mountains along the Middle Fork of the Weiser River, is divided into two loops. The north loop contains 12 campsites. The south loop (opening by mid-July 2025) contains six equestrian-themed campsites, though they are available for use by any visitor on a first-come, first-served basis. Potable water is available by hand pump in the north loop.

Recreation opportunities in the area include fishing; hunting; hiking, motorcycle riding, horseback riding, and mountain biking on the adjacent Council Mountain Trail (#198), extended to the campground in 2024; OHV riding, including on the Bear Gap ATV Trail (#209, up to 50” width, open to motorized use May 15 through Sept. 30), located to the southeast of the campground. Several other motorized and non-motorized trails are available along Middle Fork Weiser River Road.   

Typical season of campground operation is May 15 through November 4.  

Current Conditions
Cabin Creek Campground is getting renovated! The north loop will have all new site furniture and toilets. The south loop (opening by mid-July 2025) will have six equestrian-themed campsites, and a toilet.

Single Site: $10/night.
Interagency Senior/Access Recreation Passes provide a 50% discount to Single Campsites ONLY.

Dogs are welcome in all campgrounds, picnic areas, and on trails. We recommend you keep your dog on a leash. Never leave them unattended. Dogs allowed to roam freely can frighten or injure wildlife, disturb other forest visitors, and create impacts to natural resources.

Potable water is typically available in the summer. It's always a good idea to travel with extra water for drinking and cooking.

Horse/Pack Animal Information

Horse/Pack animals are allowed at this site.

Horse/Stock is not allowed in the north loop. However, the south loop of Cabin Creek Campground is designed for stock/horse use. The sites have space for horse trailers, hitching posts, and a corral.
