FARMINGTON CANYON WINTER CAMPING 

SPECIAL ORDER OF FOREST SUPERVISOR 

WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST 

SALT LAKE RANGER DISTRICT

The following act is provided for public safety and to assure access to Francis Peak by Federal Aviation Administration personnel during the winter months.

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the road and area described below and as shown on the map. All lands affected are located on the Salt Lake Ranger District, Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This order is in effect until further notice.

1. Camping on or within 1/2 mile of Farmington Canyon Road between Sunset Campground and the gates at the top of the canyon from November 1 to April 1 annually. [36 CFR 261.58 (e)]

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e), the following acts, or persons, are exempt from this order:

1. Camping in or below Sunset Campground.
2. Persons with a permit or contract authorizing the otherwise prohibited act.
3. Authorized Federal, State, or local officers, or members of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of official duty.

Area Described: Farmington Canyon Road and within 1/2 mile of the road between Sunset Campground and the winter gates at the top of the Canyon.

Violation of this prohibition is punishable by fine of not more than $5,000 or imprisonment of not more than 6 months or both (16 USC 551; 18 USC 3559 & 3571

(b)       (6).

This order supersedes any previous orders/notices for the above described areas, and same said violation(s).
