PURPOSE:

Purpose of the closure is to reduce the Wildfire Risk in the foothills along the Wasatch Front in Weber and Box Elder County which is primarily high to extreme based on the State of Utah's Wildfire Risk Assessment Portal (UWRAP) data. The Wildfire Risk represents the possibility of loss or harm occurring from a wildfire and combines the likelihood of a fire occurring (Threat) with those areas of most concern that are adversely impacted by fire (Fire Effects). The High to Extreme Risk rating in this area is driven by: 1) the proximity to the wildland urban interface, 2) a high probability of fire occurrence, 3) suppression difficulty due to steep terrain and a mix of flashy fuels and shrubs (primarily cheat grass and gambel oak), and 4) a high potential to negatively impact drinking water.

IMPLEMENTATION:

  1. This Order will be in effect when signed June 1st, and shall remain in effect through November 15th annually or until rescinded.
  2. Attached map shows the area affected by this Order.
