Alexander Basin Trail #310

Major destinations include Alexander Basin and Gobblers Knob. Trail junctions include Bowman Fork Trail. Pets are permitted, see the restrictions for this trail. The Alexander Basin Trail leaves Mill Creek Canyon Road above Clover Springs Picnic area about 7.8 miles up the canyon on the south side of the road. The trail climbs steeply to Alexander Basin, about 1 mile. The basin is a glaciated bowl located below Gobblers Knob. The Alexander Trail continues around the shoulder of Gobblers Knob to join Bowman Fork Trail, about 3.0 miles. The Bowman Fork Trail joins the Desolation Trail in 1 1/2 miles.

$ 5.00 / car. Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation employees collect the fee as you exit the canyon. Annual passes are available through Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation by calling (801) 483-5473, or you can purchase one as you exit the canyon.

Trail enters designated wilderness, special regulations apply! Watershed restrictions apply and are strictly enforced when you cross the ridge into Big Cottonwood Canyon. Dogs: Dogs are restricted from the groomed ski trail on ODD numbered calendar days during the winter. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all trail heads and developed sites including parking areas. Via Mill Creek Canyon Road (3800 South Wasatch Blvd.) 7.8 miles up the canyon. Past Elbow Fork and below Thousand Springs.
