Reservations
General Information
- CAUTION: There are bears in the area. Please keep all foods, soaps, and garbage properly stored.
- Check ahead. Campfires may not be allowed during fire restrictions.
- Car top boat launching available at Salt Springs Reservoir. Access to the water is difficult. Boating is hazardous when windy (usually in the afternoons).
- Hiking in Mokelumne Wilderness (permit required for overnight use, year round). Permits available at Carson Pass Information Station (summer only) and the Amador Ranger Station. The trailhead is at Salt Springs Reservoir.
June - October
- OHV use is not allowed in the campground. OHV’s must be trailered to staging areas and authorized routes in the Bear River Reservoir area.
- Keep family pets on a leash at all times.
- Make sure your fire is dead out before leaving. Use only water, not soil. Use only dead and down wood.

There is no piped water at the campground. Water from the river is available but should be boiled before using. Water quality tes ng is not performed on open water sources.
